Recently, at a wonderfully proactive and productive Staff-Parish Relations meeting, we discussed returning a “culture of prayer” to our weekly worship. Primarily, we’re re-establishing the longstanding open invitation to come forward to pray at the altar rail during the Pastoral Prayer time. This standing invitation promotes the freedom to do so when you would find it meaningful. Maybe you’re personally under undo duress, maybe you’re exceptionally concerned about someone or some issue, or maybe you just feel compelled. Though this invitation has always been present in spirit, we’re now drawing attention to it in order to encourage more and better prayerfulness. Even if you aren’t able to kneel, come on down. As you find it meaningful, please come. Keep calm and… pray on.
